Terry Kooijman is an experienced AI governance architect and senior strategic advisor. With more than 15 years of experience at the intersection of strategic management, organizational architecture, and financial management, he focuses entirely on the professional application of AI governance. As co-founder of The Wise Sailor, he trains, guides, and mentors executives, managers, and professionals through the complex world of AI transformation.

Terry combines this extensive practical experience with a deep academic and managerial foundation. He holds an Executive Master’s in Finance & Control (EMFC/Registered Controller) and a Master’s in Organizational Design & Development (MSc). He is also a Lean Black Belt and a certified ISO/IEC 42001 expert (PECB).

Drawing on this specific expertise, he helps organizations set up effective AI management systems (AIMS). He translates complex legislation and frameworks, such as the EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, and the NIST AI RMF, into practical guidance and concrete skills. By bridging the gap between governance, legislation, and operational efficiency, he ensures that AI systems not only comply with regulations but also that stakeholders maintain independent control and use AI as a foundation for long-term value.
